Domenic Haynes’ one-of-a-kind voice moves effortlessly from a gravely baritone to a horn-like falsetto. At first listen, it becomes apparent that his dynamic and textured vocals are rooted in the essence of blues, gospel, soul and funk. Domenic began his musical journey at 16 while in high school when friends suggested he take singing seriously after fooling around at an impromptu jam session. When his parents heard a recording of the jam session, they encouraged him to pursue his gift as well. Domenic then began experimenting with his voice and found a true passion for creation through song. Having moved to Tampa, FL from California’s Inland Empire, as a child, Domenic was exposed to the diverse cultures and sounds that are unique to south Florida. Domenic’s family was also highly musical and his childhood was lined with the sounds of Jimi Hendrix, Prince, Sergio Mendes, Stevie Wonder, Muddy Waters and Michael Jackson. Domenic combines his love of alternative music, hip-hop, folk and alt-R&B with the influences of classic rock, Muscle Shoals soul, and pop to create an irreverent, adventurous style that is both familiar yet fresh and uniquely his own. Domenic’s lyrics speak to his coming-of-age insights and his desire to explore and rediscover the self through creation. He’s focused on finding and maintaining balance with the hopes of healing and spreading love.
